Toyota Set to Become World's Top Automaker

Linknet News Daily Digest

December 21, 2005 - Toyota has announced that it intends to build 9.06 million vehicles worldwide in 2006, a 10% increase over 2005. General Motors has been the world's top vehicle manufacturer since the 1930's, but it may finally lose that position in 2006..

Toyota sales are booming, driven by sales initiatives offered by Toyota dealers like Jarvis Toyota in Adelaide, Australia. Jarvis Cars offers the best price on a new Toyota, and they also include a Free 5 Year Unlimited Kilometer Warranty along with 5 Year Roadside Assistance. Aggressive sales initiatives like this make Toyota hard to beat.

These Toyota sales numbers put them about 4 years ahead of previous projections, a fact which emphasizes not only the strength of Toyota, but the problems of G.M. It also makes it clear that most industry watchers already consider Toyota the world's premier automaker. The Japanese giant is producing cars that people want, and has been making steady gains in Australia, North America, Europe and parts of Asia during the past decade.

Ford outlines plan to fight global warming

The Ford Motor Company has made several efforts to improve its environmental standing. The environmental campaign has recently been reignited by Ford Chairman Bill Ford. Most significant is Ford's commitment to increase its hybrid vehicle production to 250,000 by the end of this decade.

In a recent report, Ford spells out some of its accomplishments, such as reducing the carbon-dioxide emissions from its factories by 15% since 2000. The new commitment to the environment was welcomed by environmentalists who encouraged other leading carmakers to implement similar policies.

Australia's Best Cars Awards - Ford takes two awards

Once again, Ford cars and trucks had a strong showing in Australia's Best Cars Awards for 2005. This is a national awards program judged by Australia's leading motor clubs. These clubs represent more than 6 million members, and the awards offer the most objective new car advice available to Australian car-buyers.

Ford's impressive showing from year to year is bolstered by strong Ford dealerships in Australia. For instance, Jarvis Ford of Adelaide has seven locations in the Adelaide area, and a very strong online presence as well. More than 400 new and used cars are available to online shoppers at any given time.

State motoring clubs and specialised judges assessed each car during the year, adding them to the list of established vehicles. This year there were nine new winners in the 12 categories.

Judges look at all aspects of each vehicle, including, but going beyond the normal performance issues. There is a strong focus on such issues as servicing, insurance, warranty, running and repair costs, as well as comparisons of standard features, fuel consumption, acceleration and braking, and safety and security features.

In the 2005 Australia's Best Car Awards there were nine new winners in 12 categories ranging from small cars to luxury models and 4WD. Winners included the Hyundai Getz, Ford Focus CL, Honda Accord Euro, Mitsubishi 380, Honda Odyssey, VW Golf GTI, Mercedes Benz CLK 350, Subaru Liberty 3.0R, Audi A6 TDi Quattro Diesel, Ford Territory Ghia, Lexus RX330, and Land Rover Discovery TDV6.
